Hungry? Choose pistachios. Among nuts, pistachios are one of the most nutritious. A one-ounce serving of pistachios, with 49 kernels and about 160 calories, gives you a variety of different vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial nutrients.
A Victory for Vitamins and Minerals
Pistachios are an excellent source of vitamin B6, copper and manganese; important vitamins and minerals for the body. The little nut also provides potassium and is a good source of phophorus and magnesium.
It’s plain as the eye can see – antioxidants are what give pistachios their green and purple-red hues, and why we sometimes call pistachios the “colorful nut” and “the fruit of nuts.”
Most Americans aren’t getting enough fiber. Luckily, a snack of crunchy pistachios can provide three grams of dietary fiber, or about 12% of the recommended daily value. That’s about the same amount as in a serving of oatmeal!
